Besides studying, there are other issues that are important in everyday life. For example, the various ways for financing your studies, one of the most common being taking a job. When a child joins the family, this also influences study planning and financing. Existing (financial) plans have to be reconsidered. Also, studying can bring further challenges if a chronic illness or disability affects daily life.

How to finance your studies in Leipzig? Overview about the options for international students.

Lecture

In this event, various options for financing your studies are presented, for whom they are eligible and what to look out for. Learn more about workiing next to your studies and scholarships. as well as BAföG, social benefits and loans. The event is open to all international students from Leipzig's universities. 

The information event covers topics such as:

  • How many hours of working are allowed?
  • How much money am I allowed to earn?
  • Which different job types do exist?
  • Where can I find jobs?
  • What kind of scholarships do exist? 
  • What is important when applying for a scholarship?
  • and many more.

Lecture

Get tips and information from an experienced social counsellor from Studentenwerk Leipzig. We will discuss questions like:

  • What do I do with a sick note as a student? 
  • What does my health insurance pay for and what do I have to pay privately? and many more.

The time before birth, is shaped by the many questions that expectant student parents have: When do I have to take care of the paternity acknowledgment and custody declaration? What financial support benefits can I apply for during pregnancy, and how do I best organize my studies? All these topics will be discussed in the event and there will also be time for your questions. The event is open to all students at Leipzig universities and their partners.

In this lecture, student parents (and parents-to-be) will receive information on all aspects of financing your studies with child(ren). Options from BAföG to housing benefit, SGB II benefits to children's allowance, parental allowance and education allowance provided by the state will be discussed. Afterwards, there will be time for questions. The event is open to all students at Leipzig universities and their partners.

How can I find a childcare place for my child in Leipzig? When should I start looking for daycare? What does daycare actually cost and how can I finance it? All these questions about childcare and its costs as well as possiblities for discounted fees will be discussed in this event. There will also be time for questions later on. This regularly held round table is open to students from all Leipzig universities who feel they belong to the target group of students with chronic illnesses and/or disabilities. It is meant to provide an opportunity to get in touch with each other, to exchange ideas and information.

This lecture offers students from all universities in Leipzig an overview over the subject of working while studying. The lecture will answear the following questions:

  • What rights and duties do I have as a student worker?
